A YATAI is a small, movable food stall. The name literally means “shop stand”. The Yatai is set up early in the evening on pedestrian walkways, and removed late at night or in the wee hours. Fukuoka’s Yatais are well known in all Japan and have became a symbol of the local cuisine experience.
In this year Design Workshop we will propose a universal design YATAI that can give people in general (local and tourists) a great experience, in addition of making its handling and operation easy for the working staff.
Designers, YATAI owners, operators, investors and all related people, will participate alongside with students in collaborative teams that will allow them to discover at firsthand what are the universal design plans and ideas for the Yatai community.
