UNIVERSAL FUKUOKA CITY Design Challenge 2013
In order to broadcast the thinking of “Friendly People, Friendly City” of UNIVERSAL FUKUOKA CITY to the citizens and to deepen the citizens’ understanding of UD, design workshop was organized from October 3rd to October 6t . The theme is [Re-charge FUKUOKA Genki Design from Fukuoka~Fukuoka’s “hidden fine piece”, to design its Genki ].
By using the advanced method of “Inclusive Design” which means the users and designers think about the solution of problems together, we challenged to achieve the Fukuoka-based design of “Friendly People, Friendly City”. The director of this program is Ms. Julia Cassim who is the profession of universal design that has been very active all over the world.
“ Niju maru project”
Creation of connection between the handicapped people and the society, starting from name cards with painted portrait.
- Setting a café in the facility as a place where handicapped creators and visitors can take direct communication.
The creator themselves will welcome the visitors.
Through this process, the creators will sense the connection to the local society and it is expected that their motivation will rise.
- The past works will all be computerized and exhibited.
The computerized database will become the attraction of the café, it is expected that through these works the effect that communication between the creators and visitors can be achieved.
Although in the welfare facility “Midorinosono” that produces and sells “Sashiko” dishcloths the users of the facility have high sewing technique, it is been realized that improvement of the quality of the design to give additional value to the product, and the promotion that is suitable for clarifying the target user and appealing to them are needed.
Therefore, through setting the brand image and design the logo mark as original Sashiko pattern, we aimed for creating new value for the traditional techniques.
As a result, we designed the original brand called “plasico” that gives new imagination to the traditional techniques.
Keeping children healthy by everyday “Eating”
We designed a system that helps with keeping the children healthy through utilization of card game and application on the smart phone. This system was designed for the families that do not pay attention to the food, and the parents who pay attention but feel stressed about cooking due to the lack of time.
Proposal of system that creates smiles and connection through allergy-free cake
We tried the hall cake called Re-charge made in the facility for the handicapped people “Fuyou Gakuin”.
